MERC Privacy Policy & Data Security
Your Personal Information
When you register for MERC and use the Business Plan Builder, you enter personal information (your name, address, etc) and some projected financial figures. We
store this solely for your use. It is never released to a third party for any purpose except as described below. You may choose to email your business
plan and the financial information to people you trust. Do not share your MERC login information with anyone
you do not trust or do not want to see your business plan.
Hennepin County Library staff and authorized contractors may examine your data in the process of providing technical support.
Although the Business Plan Builder asks you to enter information like your income, it will never ask you to enter bank account numbers, social
security numbers, or other sensitive information that could expose you to identity theft. If you receive email messages with links to pages that claim
to be the Business Plan Builder, but which ask you to enter personal information such as bank account or social security numbers, etc., do not reply, you may be
the target of identity theft. Please contact us immediately if this occurs at

Information collected through the MERC registration process will not be used for commercial purposes, nor will it be shared with any non-library
individual or agency. It is collected for the purpose of collecting demographic data on users of the MERC and for notifying users of important changes
in the MERC/BPB program or email service.
